Lehigh wraps up successful weekend in Virginia

LORTON, Va. – Lehigh’s varsity 8 crews traveled to Virginia on Sunday to compete in the Occoquan Sprints. The men’s crew crossed in first place in their opening heat and the final, as the Mountain Hawks defeated boats from Loyola, George Mason, Virginia, Mary Washington and William & Mary. The women placed third in their final with a time of 7:02.1920, besting Loyola, Johns Hopkins and Virginia Commonwealth along the way.
In the men’s opening heat Lehigh cruised to a first place finish in 6:26.0, defeating George Mason, Mary Washington, Maryland and Johns Hopkins. The Mountain Hawks then defeated five crews in the final, crossing in 6:00.0 to claim first place.
The women also had a strong showing as they finished in 7:02.1920, besting three other crews in the process.
Lehigh returns to the water on Friday, April 10 when the Mountain Hawks compete in the Knecht Cup in Camden, New Jersey.
