Mountain Hawks compete at PL Championship

CAMDEN, N.J. – Lehigh placed fifth at the 2009 Patriot League Championship on Sunday, held on the Cooper River in New Jersey. The Mountain Hawks entered three crews in the event, including the women’s varsity 8, second varsity 8 and varsity four. Bucknell retained its hold of the title as the Bison won their fourth consecutive league championship.
In the varsity 8 race, Lehigh crossed in a time of 7:24.39 to earn three points, with Bucknell finishing the race first. The Mountain Hawks second varsity 8 crew completed its race in a time of 7:29.35, earning four points in the process, while Bucknell took first place. In the varsity four race, Lehigh crossed in fourth place in a time of 8:21.68 to earn two more points. Lehigh finished the championship with nine points.
Lehigh’s full crew will be back in action on Friday, May 8 when the Mountain Hawks travel to Philadelphia for one of the nation’s largest regattas, the Dad Vail Regatta.
