Rowing Kicks Off Fall Campaign at Parents Weekend Scrimmage

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Lehigh rowing kicked off its fall campaign on Saturday morning from the Steiner/Steinberg Boathouse for the annual parents weekend scrimmage.
"We made the most of a beautiful day on the Lehigh River," said director of rowing and Steven J. '69 & Karen A. Lee head women's rowing coach Peter Costas. "We're racing really well internally at practice, but it's great to get a look at what happens when we shift into a race day environment."
Lehigh's men's and women's teams competed in several intrasquad races, including two 2500m pieces from both eights and fours.
"Really pleased to see how sharp the day ran on the water," said Costas. "That is a real credit to a young and talented coxswain group collaborating and learning how things work on our river. A real credit to Aidan Judge, Allison Pacheco, and Kendall Fitzgerald for showing leadership for that group. We've had three first-year coxswains hit the ground running and it was on display today."
Many parents and families of Lehigh rowers were in attendance.
"Thank you to the many parents who came out to support Lehigh rowing today," said Costas. "Looking forward to making the changes that need to happen this week and further preparing for our fall race schedule."
Lehigh's next competition will be at the Bucknell Head Race in Susquehanna, Pennsylvania on October 3. Following the trip west, the Mountain Hawks in consecutive weekends at the Head of the Housatonic in Shelton, Connecticut on October 10, the Head of the Charles on October 17 in Boston, Massachusetts, the Head of the Schuylkill on October 24 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania followed by the annual Class Day Regatta on October 31 at the Steiner/Steinberg Boathouse in Allentown.
