ACT

The Athletics Communications Team (ACT) was created for the department to better address current/pressing events as they occur through a variety of mediums.

ACT’s structure and response framework has been crafted so that we can respond nimbly to emergent events with flexibility and empathy. ACT will also serve to provide continuity in inclusive excellence and belonging-related messaging across the department by using shared, intentional language.

How ACT works:

  • ACT is made aware of a current issue
  • TACT (Triage ACT) meets to determine next steps - manage with TACT or involve ACT
  • ACT meets, ideally within 48 hours of initial identification of potential concern
  • Group discusses the emergent issue and determines if a response is warranted (and in what format)
  • Determine who crafts a response if needed
  • Determine rationale for not responding (if applicable)
  • Communications Rep will create initial draft of response
  • Connect w/ 3.1 Group & Campus Experts for best language to use in message
  • Review draft and finalize (through discussion) intended audiences and delivery methods for messaging
  • ACT discusses any qualitative/quantitative reactions to distributed messaging, emails group with overview of actions taken and feedback received
