Mountain Hawks Drop Two on Final Day of Red and Black Classic

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – After taking two Friday on the opening day of Gardner-Webb's Red and Black Classic, Lehigh dropped a pair of games Saturday on the second and final day of tournament play. The Mountain Hawks were done in by four errors in a 5-3 loss to Queens University in their first game of the day and then dropped their rematch with Gardner-Webb 7-3 with the Runnin' Bulldogs scoring five runs in the third inning.

Sophomore Kelly Fricker totaled three hits and three RBIs over the two games, while first-years Kyra Neiswender, Maia D'Amico and Lola Fasano all had two-hit games on Saturday.

Sunday's tournament finale versus Tennessee Tech has been canceled due to expected inclement weather. Lehigh heads home at 5-4 on the young season.

Lehigh fell behind Queens (2-3) in the top of the first, but senior Sydney Parlett's seventh double of the young season brought home first-year Kyra Neiswender

The Royals tied the game with two runs in the fifth and then took the lead in the sixth when Shayna Suttles scored on an error after an infield single by Lauren Byrd. Queens added another run in the seventh while Lehigh only mustered two of its nine hits after the third inning.

Junior Maddy Clark started in the circle and allowed three runs (one earned) on five hits over five innings. First-year Maddie Masiko allowed two runs (one earned) over 1.1 innings, while classmate Addison Moorman threw 0.2 innings.

After winning a wild 11-10 decision against Gardner-Webb Friday, the Mountain Hawks struck first in Saturday's rematch as Fasano singled home first-year Megan Lodge in the second inning.
Fasano had five hits in the two games against GWU this weekend.

Fricker doubled home two runs in the fourth to bring Lehigh within 5-3, but Garder-Webb tacked on single runs in the fourth and fifth innings.
