Mountain Hawks Compete At Kerr Cup Regatta

PHILADELHPIA – Lehigh rowing continued the spring season on Saturday morning at the Kerr Cup Regatta in Philadelphia. The men and women competed in a total of 13 races between the first varsity eight+, second varsity eight+, first varsity four+ and second varsity four+.
Lehigh's first race of the day was in the initial heat for the second varsity four+, in which the top three advance to a grand final with no petite final. The Mountain Hawks took fourth with a time of 8:25.37.
The next race was the women's first varsity four+ initial heat, which the Mountain Hawks claimed third at 9:44.1 to advance to the grand final. Lehigh's women's second varsity eight+ won their heat with a time of 7:57.34 to advance to their grand final. The men's second varsity eight+ also advanced to their grand final, taking third at 6:59.60 in their heat.
In the women's first varsity eight+ heat, Lehigh took fourth with a time of 8:04.56. The men's first varsity eight+ also placed fourth in their heat at 6:55.59.
The first final of the day for Lehigh was the women's second varsity four+, where the Mountain Hawks took second place in 9:32.72. The Mountain Hawks then took third in the men's first varsity four+ final with a finish of 8:21.0. Lehigh's women's first varsity four+ claimed fourth in the final with a time of 9:57.26.
In the women's second varsity eight+ grand final, Lehigh finished in second place, finishing the race in 8:23.99. The men took sixth place at 7:07.24 in their second varsity eight+ grand final.
The Mountain Hawks were victorious in the women's first varsity eight+ petite final with a time of 8:04.6. Lehigh's final race of the day was the men's first varsity eight+ petite final that saw the Mountain Hawks take third at 6:53.79.
The men will next be in action on Sunday, May 4 at the MARC Championships in Mercer, N.J. The women return to the water on Saturday, May 3 for a meet against the Saint Joseph's Hawks.
