WHY LEHIGH?: It had the mix of academics and baseball that I was looking for, and I really liked the campus.
ON COACH LEARY: You can tell he really cares about his players’ success both on and off the field. Coach does a lot to help us in life after baseball which is very important.
2021 (SOPHOMORE SEASON)
Solid campaign as the team's starting catcher, also seeing some time at first base throughout the year...named a Second Team All-Patriot League catcher, starting and appearing in 42 games...hit .237 with 36 hits, nine doubles, two triples, five home runs and drove 26 runners in. Slugged .421 with 14 walks and reached base at a .335 clip...threw out eight batters on the season...finished the year with seven multi-hit games and six multi-RBI contests...ranked fifth in the Patriot League in homers (5), seventh in hit-by-pitches (9)...named Patriot League Player of the Week (5/4) after hitting .375 (6-for-16), slugged .688 and drove in six runs during the team's 3-1 week against FDU and Navy...one of three Mountain Hawks to earn Academic All-Patriot League laurels...named a Top Draft Prospect for 2022 by D1Baseball.com prior to the start of the season...named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll with a 4.0 GPA.
2020 (FRESHMAN SEASON)
Solid rookie season, making a start in all 13 of his appearances as the team's primary catcher...led his teammates in batting (.296), runs scored (10) and was tied for the team-lead in home runs (2)...tallied at least one hit in all but two contests on the year...went 2-for-5 with two home runs at Richmond (2/23)...first four-hit game of his career came at NC A&T (3/6) in a 15-inning victory, going 4-for-8 with a double, a triple and two runs scored...had team-best nine game hitting streak snapped at FDU (3/10), but ended season on a 10-game reached base streak after drawing a walk against the Knights...behind the plate, he threw out five batters trying to steal on six attempts and finished with a fielding percentage of .990...named to the J. Daniel Nolan Award Spring Watch List...named Perfect Game's Preseason Patriot League Rookie of the Year...named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll with a 4.0 GPA.

BEFORE LEHIGH
Hailing from Greenfield Township, Retzbach comes to Lehigh looking to build off his highly successful four years at Lakeland High School. He is an All-League and All-Region selection in both 2018 and 2019 and was named his league's Player of the Year in 2019. He helped lead Lakeland to back-to-back-to-back league titles in 2017, 2018 and 2019 and won a district title during the 2018 season. His senior year, Retzbach batted .471 (24-for-51) with seven home runs and 31 RBIs. He walked 21 times and struck out just four times with an OBP of .645, a slugging percentage of .921 and an OPS of 1.567. A four-year varsity starter, Retzbach finished his career with a .396 average, 90 hits, 92 RBIs, 16 doubles, 11 homers and a career OBP of .516. In the classroom, he was a member of the National Honors Society and was named to the High Honor Roll.
