Lehigh Suffers Loss In Non-League Finale At Saint Peter's

Lehigh's (22-22) Ralph Gariano picked up the loss, allowing the go-ahead runs after 3.2 innings of solid relief. Saint Peter's (11-28) reliever Ben Williams earned the win after holding the Mountain Hawks scoreless in the top of the ninth inning.
Starters Anthony Gonzalez and Hunter Lefkus both worked through the first two innings without conceding any runs. The Peacocks broke through first in the third inning, scoring two on a Tyler Cotton double. Saint Peter's used a three-run bottom of the fifth to extend their lead to five.
Lehigh's offense finally got on the board in the seventh, using an Aidan Quinn RBI single to get past home plate. After Gariano held the Peacocks scoreless in the bottom of the seventh, the Mountain Hawks scored four runs in the top of the eighth to tie the game at 5-5.
Gariano retired the side 1-2-3 in the bottom of the eighth, however, the Mountain Hawks did the same in the top of the ninth. With runners on first and third, Tyler Smith delivered a three-run homer to walk it off for Saint Peter's.
Quinn tallied two hits on the day for the Mountain Hawks. Dom Patrizi, Raffaele Rogers and Matt Tsiaras also recorded hits for Lehigh.
Lehigh will conclude the regular season this upcoming weekend against the Holy Cross Crusaders in Worcester, Massachusetts. The Mountain Hawks and Crusaders will kick off the weekend with a doubleheader on Saturday, May 3 beginning at 12 p.m.
