Auteri Clinches Match for Lehigh's First Win of Season

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's tennis closed out its opening weekend with a 4-3 win over Saint Francis Sunday inside the Lewis Tennis Center. The Mountain Hawks captured their first win of the season as they are now 1-1, while the Red Flash fall to 0-4.
For the second day in a row, Lehigh started off the match by winning the doubles point. Jacob Edelchik and Jack Martin-Dyer once again posted a win at the first flight as they improve to 2-0 on the season. Jack Petersen and Bryant Born also collected their second win of the weekend at No. 3 doubles with their 6-2 win on Sunday.
The match boiled down to the No. 6 flight where Christopher Auteri defeated Chad Allender in straight sets, 6-0, 6-4, to clinch the match for Lehigh. Auteri capped off his weekend with a 2-0 record.
Auteri's victory ended a string of three-straight wins at the bottom half of the lineup for Lehigh. Harry Wang started the run with a straight-set victory at the fourth flight for his first-career dual season win. Bryant Born also capped off the weekend with a 2-0 singles record as he won in straight sets at the fifth spot.
The Mountain Hawks return to action Saturday when they host Villanova at 2 p.m. inside Lewis Tennis Center.
