No. 1 Lehigh Sweeps No. 9 Lafayette, Advances To Semifinals

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Playing as the top seed in the field for the first time in program history, No. 1 Lehigh men's tennis hosted rival No. 9 Lafayette in the Patriot League Championship quarterfinals on Friday morning. The Mountain Hawks swept the Leopards 4-0 to advance to the semifinals for the second consecutive year.
Lehigh (14-8, 6-1 PL) got their postseason started with a 6-3 victory on doubles court three from Rafael Gracie and Kosei Ogata. The pairing of Wyeth Anzilotti and Henry Stoller on doubles court two secured the doubles point for the Mountain Hawks after they defeated Jake Magnusson and Sam Gelber 6-3. Sean Jaeger and Alex Van Lumich's match on doubles court one was left unfinished.
Van Lumich took care of business with a 6-4, 6-0 win on court two to kick off singles competition in the quarterfinal round. Aleksandar Daskalovic was next to finish for the Mountain Hawks, besting Nicolas McKenzie 6-3, 6-2 on court three to bring his team within one win of the clinch. Stoller's 6-1, 6-4 win over Magnusson on court six sent Lehigh to the semifinals.
Singles matches on courts one, four, and five were left unfinished.
The Mountain Hawks will square off against No. 5 Bucknell in the Patriot League Championship semifinals on Saturday, April 25 at 11 a.m. at the Lewis Indoor Tennis Center/Ulrich Varsity Tennis Courts.
