
Lehigh Men Edged by Drexel in Season Opener

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Mountain Hawks dropped a hard-fought battle on opening day of the 2018 season Saturday afternoon as Drexel dominated the singles matches to come away with the 4-3 victory.
Lehigh had the early leg up by taking two of three doubles matches. Freshman Jacob Edelchik teamed up with sophomore Jack Martin-Dyer for a convincing 6-2 win at the first flight. Senior Jack Petersen and junior Bryant Born also looked strong in their debut together as they cruised to a 6-2 win.
After missing all of last season, Born put together an outstanding season debut as he captured his second win of the day in his singels match. The junior pulled away for a 6-2 victory in the third set against Xandy Hammitt at the fifth position for Lehigh's lone singles win of the day.
The Mountain Hawks will cap off its opening weekend Sunday as they take on Saint Francis at 10 a.m. inside the Lewis Tennis Center.
