3/25/2017 11:12:00 PM | Men's Tennis

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Navy handed Lehigh a 7-0 sweep as the Mountain Hawks opened their Patriot League schedule at home on Saturday inside Lewis Tennis Center. The Mids improve to 15-16 overall and 1-1 in the league, while Lehigh falls to 2-10 overall and 0-1 in the Patriot League.

The Mountain Hawks began the day with a big victory at No. 1 doubles as George Cooper and Graham Lehman took down Navy's Thomas Pecor and Aries Wong by a score of 6-3. The Mids collected a victory at the No. 2 flight and needed to go to a tiebreaker at the third flight to clinch the doubles point.

There were a number of close matches and sets throughout the singles competition. Cooper came up on the losing end of one of those closely-contested matches as he fell, 10-5, in the third set to Pecor at the No. 1 flight.

Christopher Auteri returned to the lineup and forced his first into a tiebreaker before ultimately falling in to sets to Zach Jennings at No. 5 singles.

Ethan Bogard also forced his match into a third set, but came up short as he fell 10-5 in the third to Ian Landwehr at sixth singles.

Lehigh will be back in action on Tuesday with a road trip to Philadelphia to take on St. Joes at 2 p.m.
