BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Patriot League Champion Lehigh baseball team will square off against Ivy League Champion Columbia in a Saturday doubleheader in New York City set to begin at 12:30 p.m. The two nine-inning games will serve as Lehigh's final tune-up before the Mountain Hawks' trip to NCAA Regionals May 29-June 1.

The Mountain Hawks claimed their second-ever league crown after taking down top-seeded Navy in a best-of-three championship series last weekend. Five RBI from junior Mike Garzillo complimented the strong pitching efforts of juniors Kevin Long and Kevin Boswick to help Lehigh capture a 7-3 win in the series opener. The second game of the series was suspended Saturday in the bottom of the tenth inning with the score tied at eight before the contest resumed Sunday and the Mids rallied to extend the series with a 9-8, 11-inning victory. The Mountain Hawks then gutted out a 4-3, 10-inning victory in the decisive game three. Senior Nick Macaione fired ten complete innings to lead Lehigh to its first championship since 2006, while classmate Connor Faust recorded the game-winning RBI in the top of the tenth inning.

Garzillo was named the Patriot League Tournament MVP after tallying 11 RBI and five home runs throughout Lehigh's six postseason games. Macaione, Boswick and senior Nick Stephens were also named to the All-Tournament team.

Garzillo leads the team with a .368 batting average and a .674 slugging percentage that ranks 13th in the nation. He set Lehigh's single-season home run record with his 13th dinger of the season in the championship series and has tallied a team-best 54 RBI. Senior Justin Pacchioli follows with a batting average of .352 and a .489 on-base percentage that sits 16th-best in Division I. He's stolen 30 bases this season, good for an average of .60 per game that ranks 12th in the country, and holds Lehigh's single season and career stolen bases records. Sophomore Jacen Nalesnik holds a .317 batting average and has knocked in 33 runs, while classmate Patrick Donnelly follows with 31 RBI.

Long leads Lehigh's starting rotation with a 5-1 record, while senior J.R. Edwards (1-3, 3.31 ERA), Stephens (4-5, 3.43 ERA) and Macaione (3-4, 2.82 ERA) have been key weekend hurlers. Boswick leads Lehigh's bullpen with four saves, three wins and a 3.77 ERA.

Columbia carries a 29-15 overall record into Saturday's doubleheader and the Lions will be seeing their first game action since winning the Ivy League Championship over Dartmouth on May 9-10. Columbia dropped the first game of the three-game championship series 7-6, but came back to pick up 7-2 and 10-7 wins in the final two games to capture the Lions' third-straight Ivy League title.

The Lions are led offensively by Joe Falcone who holds a .354 batting average, .689 slugging percentage and 51 RBI. Gus Craig (.327), Jordan Serena (.317) and David Vandercook (.301) are all hitting over .300, while Columbia is hitting an impressive .294 as a team.

Kevin Roy leads the Lions starting rotation with five wins and a 2.89 ERA. Mike Weisman (4-1, 3.43 ERA), George Thanopoulos (4-5, 3.80 ERA) and Adam Cline (3-0, 3.99 ERA) have also been key starters for Columbia. Harrisen Egly leads the team's bullpen with five saves, three wins and a 2.59 ERA.

Following Saturday's doubleheader, Lehigh will learn its Regionals destination during the NCAA baseball selection show on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25. The one-hour show will be aired live on ESPNU at 12 p.m.
