2015 (SENIOR SEASON)
Strong senior season as a key weekend starter who made 12 appearances and 11 starts…finished the season as the team leader in ERA (2.92) and innings pitched (71.0)…threw a ten-inning complete game in game three of the Patriot League Championship series at Navy, allowing two earned runs on five hits with four strikeouts, to help Lehigh to its second-ever league crown…earned a spot on the All-Patriot League Tournament team…threw the first nine innings of an 11-inning combined no-hitter against Iona to earn Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week and Patriot League Pitcher of the Week honors…earned a complete game win against Bucknell after allowing just two runs, only one of which was earned, on six hits in a full nine innings…struck out a season-best eight batters to earn the win at Holy Cross…got the start and fired four two-run innings in Lehigh’s NCAA Tournament game at LSU…earned the Anderson-Hartzell Pitching Award at the end of the season.
2014 (JUNIOR SEASON)
Made 12 appearances on the mound, including two starts…finished the season with 22 strikeouts and a 6.20 ERA in 20.1 innings of work…earned the win over nationally-ranked Seton Hall after throwing the final 3.2 innings of the game and striking out four while allowing two hits and one run.
2013 (SOPHOMORE SEASON)
Made 10 appearances out of the bullpen…pitched a season-high four innings against Fordham…picked up a win after tossing 1.1 innings of scoreless relief and striking out three against UNC-Greensboro…third best on the team with a 3.86 ERA.
2012 (FRESHMANÂ SEASON)
Appeared in 10 games out of the bullpen…tossed 2.2 scoreless innings while striking out three in his collegiate debut at California…allowed three runs on six hits in a season-high 3.2 innings of relief against Columbia…combined to throw 1.2 scoreless innings of relief with two strikeouts against Bucknell and Coppin State in back-to-back appearances. Â
BEFORE LEHIGH
The 2011 North Warren High School captain, Macaione was named first team All-Conference for three years. An NJSIAA Senior All-Star Classic selection, Macaione was recognized by The Express Times as a two-time Player of the Week and first team All-Area honoree. He was also named second team All-West Jersey (Star Ledger). Macaione ranked third in the state for Legion Baseball Post 258. Also a star soccer player, he was a two-time second team All-Conference honoree. Macaione impressed in the classroom, earning Male Scholar-Athlete (2010-11) while making the Principal’s List four straight years. Other honors included: 2011 baseball captain, 2011 MVP and 2010-11 Male Outstanding Athlete. Macaione owns the single-season hit record (42) and is the all-time wins leader as a pitcher (18).
