Lehigh wraps up successful stint at Knecht Cup with four finals appearances

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. - The Lehigh rowing team wrapped up its weekend at the Knecht Cup on Sunday, highlighted by a pair of crews competing in the finals and another two making the petite finals. There was an adjustment in the schedule, turning a pair of semifinals into grand finals.

"I think the men raced fantastically," said Lehigh head coach Brian Conley. "They did exactly what they needed them to do and for our team to do at such a big regatta."

Rowing for the first time on Sunday after weather forced postponements Saturday, the Men's Freshmen/Novice Four finished fourth in its heat, coming in 7:27.09 before placing fifth in the petite finals (7:30.62). The Men's Freshmen/Novice Eight finished second (6:30.12) before coming in second in the petite finals (6:33.22).

Rowing after strong showings Saturday, the Mountain Hawks' Men's Second Varsity Eight placed fifth in the grand finals (7:26.71) while the Men's Varsity Four came in sixth (7:01.92).

"Today was definitely a team effort where several guys ended up having to race in multiple events and they were able to step up their game and race at a very high level," said Conley.
Â
The Mountain Hawks will return to action on Saturday at the Kerr Cup.
