BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Rivalry returns to Easton, Pa., on Friday at 6 p.m. as Lehigh men's and women's swimming and diving takes on Lafayette at Weinstein Natatorium.
Both teams will be looking to continue their dominance against the Leopards as the men will be going for their 33rd consecutive victory against the Leopards and the women will be going for their 17th straight win over Lafayette.
Last season, the men picked up a 164-134 victory over Lafayette and the women won 229-71 after taking home 15 first-place finishes. The men come into Friday's meet with a 3-3 overall record (1-1 PL) and the women are 4-2 (1-1 PL).
The men are coming off of a 152-90 loss to Seton Hall. Sophomore Owen Higinbotham picked up his first individual win of his career, taking home first place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:47.33. Hinginbotham had the lone win for the Mountain Hawks in the loss to the Pirates.
The women dropped a closely contested loss to Seton Hall, falling 123-115. Lehigh registered seven wins against the Pirates, but it would not be enough. The 200-yard medley team of Anushree Ghate, Zoe Davies, Clara Moschella and Caitlin Deitch swam to a first-place finish with a time of 1:48.10.
Davies also had an individual win, taking home first place in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:26.17).
Senior Natalie Martin won the 200-yard butterfly (2:06.85), sophomore Eliza Meth won the 200-yard IM (2:11.61) and senior Willa Werwaiss won the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:02.49. Werwaiss has had an incredible season, taking home a first-place finish in every meet this season.
While she didn't swim against Seton Hall as she was taking part in the FISU games, junior Mairin Ludwig has also had a win in every meet she competed for Lehigh this season.
Next up, Lehigh will take on Drexel on Dec. 7 at 10 a.m.
