Lehigh Earns First Patriot League Championship Medal in Record-Setting Day Three

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Day three of the Patriot League Championships took place on Friday at the United States Naval Academy. Lehigh heads into the final day of competition in seventh place with 422 points.
Sophomore Clara Moschella swam her way onto the record book to start off day three's finals. She placed fifth overall in the 100 yard butterfly, swimming 54.19. Caitlin Deitch also scored points in the event, as she placed 11th overall. The senior touched in 54.57, scoring 16 points for the Mountain Hawks
Caitlin Hofmann finished 13th in the 400 yard individual medley. The senior swam 4:31.34, scoring 14 points.
Mairin Ludwig swam in the A Final of the 200 yard Freestyle, placing seventh overall in the entire Patriot League. The senior swam 1:50.38, adding 23 points to Lehigh's total. The Mountain Hawks also had first years Sophie Perry and Genevieve Cody in the C Finals, each setting new personal records as a result. Perry placed 19th, clocking 1:52.27. Cody swam 1:53.14, placing 22nd.
Zoe Davies was Lehigh's top swimmer in the 100-yard breaststroke. She placed 13th, touching in 1:04.34. First-year Emma Gyorkos broke her personal record to earn a place in the C Final (1:05.12), then swam 1:04.95 to break it again. She placed 19th, tallying six points.
Eliza Johnson swam her way into the championship race in the 100 yard backstroke with a new school record of 54.75. In the A Final, the first-year placed fourth overall, swimming 54.97 and raising Lehigh's score by 26 points. The Mountain Hawks also had three swimmers in the C Final. Perry led the way in 20th, finishing in 56.55. Senior Anushree Ghate and sophomore Claire Coughlin finished back-to-back in 22nd and 23rd. Ghate's 57.19 edged out Coughlin's 57.59.
Lehigh earned its first podium finish of the championships with a third place finish in the 200 yard freestyle relay. Consisting of Deitch, Ludwig, Cody, and Giselle Michaels, the team swam 1:32.05 to get their medal.
Saturday's events will begin with preliminaries at 10 a.m., followed by finals at 6 p.m. All Patriot League Championships sessions will be aired on ESPN+.
