Mountain Hawks Conclude Season at ECAC Championships

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Lehigh swimming and diving participated in their last meet of the season this weekend. The Mountain Hawks competed at the ECAC Championships, hosted by Bucknell. Junior Darrah Shuff was the lone female for Lehigh, she scored 34 points and placed Lehigh in 11th. The men placed 11th as well, scoring 77.5 points.
Shuff opened competition on day one in the 500 yard freestyle. She placed eighth in the A Final, scoring 11 points. First-year Jake Greenleaf was Lehigh's top finisher on the men's side of that event. He swam a personal best time of 4:30.80 to place fourth overall, scoring 15 points. Christian McAuley also swam a personal best to score six points in the B Final. The first-year touched in 4:35.08, placing 11th.
First-year Jack MacMillan tied for 11th place in the 50 yard freestyle. He lowered his personal record to 20.82 to score 5.5 points.
On day two, Shuff placed third in the B Final of the 200 yard freestyle to score six points. She placed 11th overall and swam a personal record time of 1:53.00. There were two Mountain Hawks in the B Final of that event on the men's side. Judson McIntosh placed 12th, swimming 1:39.96 which is a new personal best for the first-year. Greenleaf touched in a season's best 1:41.03 to place 16th.
Matt McLellan broke the 50 meter mark for the first time in the 100 yard backstroke, clocking in at 49.61. The junior placed fifth in the A Final, scoring 14 points.
Shuff opened the day three finals by becoming the runner up in the 1650 yard final. She swam 17:24.20, tallying 17 points for Lehigh's score. McAuley swam 15:58.05 in the men's final, placing sixth.
McLellan earned his second backstroke event points at the 200 yard distance. He swam 1:52.40, placing 1oth and scoring seven.
McIntosh swam his way into the B Final of the 100 yard freestyle final with a personal record (45.47). He added one point to Lehigh's total with a 16th place finish, touching at 45.89.
McAuley and sophomore Matt Baumberger concluded the meet with subsequent finishes in the B Final of the 200 yard freestyle. McAuley used a new personal best (1:52.28) to take 13th and edge out Baumberger, who finished 14th (1:53.56).
Navy won both the men's women's championship in dominant fashion. The men's team scored 995 points, and the women totalled 818.
