Deppe’s Record Breaking Meet Guides Lehigh to Sixth in Patriot League Championships

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The fourth and final day of the 2026 Patriot League Championships took place on Saturday at the United States Naval Academy. Lehigh concluded the meet in sixth place with 560 points.
The first event of the night was the 1650 yard freestyle. TJ Hayes was Lehigh's top swimmer, finishing in a personal record 15:34.62. The first-year placed ninth overall, scoring 20 points. Sophomore Will Pestrichelli placed 11th, swimming a personal best 15:41.86. Junior Owen Higinbotham and sophomore Will Moon each scored points due to personal best performances. Higinbotham finished in 16:04.52, scoring six points with his 19th place finish. Moon was right behind in 20th. He swam 16:10.49, smashing his personal best by 42 seconds to add five points to Lehigh's total.
The Mountain Hawks had three swimmers in the 200 yard backstroke B Final. Ben Kisker paced the trio to a second place finish in the heat and landing at 10th overall in the Patriot League. The senior swam a new personal record in his final collegiate event, touching at 1:46.63. Sophomore Tristan Ronayne placed 12th, swimming 1:47.64 and scoring 15 points. First-year Sam Skibo swam a personal best in his first championship meet. He finished in 1:49.19, placing 15th and taking 12 points.
Sophomores Frankie Prekop and Chase Bearley participated in the C Final of the 100 yard freestyle. Prekop placed third in that race, reaching 19th overall and touching in 45.18. Bearley obtained a new personal best with his 23rd place finish. He swam 45.36 and scored two points.
Jack Deppe won the B Final of the 200 yard breaststroke in record breaking fashion. He placed ninth overall, scoring 20 points. He became the first Mountain Hawk to break the two minute mark in the event, swimming 1:58.73. He breaks his own record that he set in the preliminary rounds by two seconds. He added his name to the record book five times in the four day meet, etching his name for three individual events and being a part of two relay records. Andrew Takach was also in that race, swimming 2:00.95. The first-year became the second fastest 200 yard breaststroke swimmer in Lehigh history with his 15th place finish. First-year Spencer Ridge also earned a point in the C Final of the event, swimming 2:07.85 to place 24th.
The Mountain Hawks had two swimmers score points in the 200 yard butterfly C Finals after setting new personal bests in the preliminaries. First-year Spencer Campbell finished 20th, scoring five points with his 1:50.30 swim. Sophomore Will Pestrichelli clocked 1:53.81, scoring one point with his 24th place finish.
Lehigh concludes the Patriot League Championship with a sixth place finish in the 400 yard freestyle relay. Prekop, Deppe, Bearley, and Davis Woerner collectively swam 2:58.96.
Lehigh will head back to the Naval Academy next weekend for their final meet of the season. The Mountain Hawks will compete in the ECAC Championships, taking place from February 27 to March 1.
