Five Mountain Hawks Named to All-Patriot League Teams

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Patriot League announced the men's and women's Swimming and Diving All-Patriot League teams on Tuesday afternoon. Sophomore Jack Deppe earned a second team nod for the men. On the women's side, first-year Eliza Johnson was named to the first team, and Caitlin Deitch, Mairin Ludwig, and Clara Moschella were awarded second team honors.
Deppe was the lone male Mountain Hawk named to the all-league teams, he scored 70 individual points in the meet to be named second team All-Patriot League. Deppe broke five school records at the meet, etching his name into the record book for all three of his individual events and being a part of two relay records. He swam 1:45.89 in the 200 yard individual medley, placing fourth in the league. He placed sixth in the 400 yard individual medley with a record breaking time of 3:51.97. He became the first Mountain Hawk to break the two minute mark in the event, swimming 1:58.73 and placing ninth. He was a member of the school record breaking 800 yard freestyle relay team that placed fourth, and the record breaking 400 yard medley relay team that placed fifth. He was also a part of the fifth place 200 yard freestyle relay team and Lehigh's sixth placing 400 yard freestyle relay team.
Johnson was named first team All Patriot League in her first league championship. She scored 71 points, finishing 15th in the league. She placed seventh in the 50 yard freestyle, swimming a personal best 23.33. After a school record breaking preliminary round, she swam 54.97 to place fourth in the league in the 100 yard backstroke. She swam 2:01.59 in the 200 yard backstroke, placing eighth. She was a part of the school record breaking 200 yard medley relay team that placed sixth, Lehigh's 800 yard freestyle relay team that finished fourth, the eighth place 400 yard medley relay team, and Lehigh's silver medal winning 400 yard freestyle relay team.
Deitch scored 64 individual points at the Patriot League Championships, leading her to be named second team All-Patriot League. The senior placed 11th in the 100 yard butterfly, swimming 54.57. She swam 50.86 in the 100 yard freestyle final, placing seventh. She placed fifth in the 200 yard butterfly, finishing in 2:00.87. She was in Lehigh's fourth place 800 yard freestyle relay, third place 200 yard freestyle relay, and second place 400 yard freestyle relay.
Ludwig earned 64 points to make the second team All-Patriot League. The senior swam 4:56.22 in the 500 yard freestyle to place 11th. She finished seventh in the 200 yard freestyle relay, touching in 1:50.38. She ranked fifth in the Patriot League in the 100 yard freestyle with a 50.48-second swim. Ludwig was also in Lehigh's fourth place 800 yard freestyle relay, third place 200 yard freestyle relay, and second place 400 yard freestyle relay.
Moschella was Lehigh's third and final second team All-Patriot League member, scoring 56 points. The sophomore placed 13th in the 200 yard individual medley, swimming 2:04.79. She swam a school record 54.19 in the 100 yard butterfly, finishing fifth. She earned tenth in the 200 yard butterfly, swimming 2:02.41. Moschella was also a part of the school record breaking 200 yard medley relay team that placed sixth and Lehigh's eighth place 400 yard medley relay team.
Lehigh will head to Bucknell University next weekend for their final meet of the season. The Mountain Hawks will compete in the ECAC Championships, taking place from February 27 to March 1.
