Lehigh Comes Up Short in Final Dual Meet

LEWISBURG, Pa.- The final dual meet of the season for Lehigh women's swimming and diving on Saturday afternoon against Patriot League opponent Bucknell University. The Mountain Hawks fell to the Bison 182-118.
Lehigh took home six event wins against Bucknell. First-year Genevieve Cody led the Mountain Hawks with victories in both of her solo events. She first won the 50-yard freestyle. She touched at 23.66, half of a second before anyone else and just short of a personal best. She followed that up with a freestyle win over 100 yards just two events later. She led a trio of Mountain Hawks to a podium sweep. Cody's 51.80-second race paced seniors Mairin Ludwig and Caitlin Deitch, who finished in 52.25 and 52.86, respectively. Ludwig won an event herself earlier in the meet, swimming 1:52.38 in the 200-yard freestyle. She also placed second in the 500-yard freestyle, swimming 5:04.88. Those three women joined forces with first-year Eliza Johnson to take home a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay, they swam 3:28.51.
The final swimming victory took place in the 100-yard butterfly, where sophomore Clara Moschella came out on top. She swam 56.71, taking the first of Lehigh's top two spots in that event. Subsequently finishing was Deitch (57.05), her second runner-up finish of the meet. She also succeeded the winner in the 200-yard butterfly, where she touched at 2:04.06.
Lehigh's remaining first place finish came on the diving board, where junior Kate Whitaker scored the highest at the three-meter height. Her score of 250.05 narrowly gave her first, winning by just 0.37 points. The Mountain Hawks also took third place, as first-year Jayden Yochai earned a personal high score of 238.30. Yochai took third at the one-meter height as well. She was Lehigh's highest scoring diver with 205.50 points.
The Mountain Hawks had a couple more podium finishes across the remaining events. First-year Eliza Johnson earned two top-three finishes in the backstroke events. She first placed third over 100 yards, swimming 57.46, and then touched at 2:05.41 to place second in the 200-yard distance. Sophomore Zoe Davies finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:50.90. Lehigh also secured a top-two finish in the 200-yard medley relay, the team of Anushree Ghate, Emma Gyorkos, Annie Gao, and Giselle Michaels swam 1:49.25. First-year Reagan Gilligan and junior Eliza Meth had Lehigh's remaining two podium finishes, earning third in each of their events. Gilligan swam 10:56.90 in the 1000-yard freestyle, and Meth touched at 2:11.30 in the 200-yard individual medley.Â
The Mountain Hawks compete in their final regular season competition next Saturday at the Navy Invitational meet.
