
Mountain Hawks Surge Past Bucknell, 16-11 for Big Patriot League Win

Junior Gabby Schneider scored a game-high five goals, and added two assists for seven points, while sophomore Olivia Memeger and senior Nora Giordano each recorded a hat trick (marking hat tricks number five and two in their respective careers). Giordano's four points also tied a career high. Junior Emma Eberhardt and senior Maggie Kelly both had a team-high three draw controls while junior Katia Carnevale dished a team-high three assists, and also scoring a goal to eclipse 100 career points (finishing the afternoon with 101). She joins classmates Eberhardt and Schneider, who both eclipsed 100 career points this season.

The Bison scored the first goal of the game, but the Mountain Hawks responded quickly with two goals, 14 seconds apart, from Schneider and Memeger. A three-goal run by Bucknell was stopped by Giordano with 1:53 left in the first quarter. After a late first-quarter goal at 0:51 by the Bison, the Mountain Hawks trailed 5-3.

A Schneider goal at 13:26 of the second quarter brought the Mountain Hawks within one. A free-position goal by Eberhardt at 8:19 tied the game at 5-5. Schneider scored her third goal of the day, good for a hat trick, 1:37 before halftime to stop a 3-0 Bison run. Just 32 seconds later, Memeger scored her second goal of the day with 1:05 on the clock to cut the Bison lead to 8-7 after 30 minutes of play.
First year Casey O'Connor started the scoring in the second half at the 13:29 mark to tie the score at 8-8. Later in the third quarter, Memeger scored her third goal of the game at 6:21, good for a 10-9 Mountain Hawk lead. Lehigh's defense shut down Bucknell's offense, keeping the Bison scoreless for the remainder of the third quarter to hold a 10-9 lead heading into the fourth.Big goal by Memeger (her second) to pull the Mountain Hawks within 8-7 of Bucknell at the half.

An assist by Carnevale set up Giordano's third goal of the game, good for an 11-9 Lehigh lead. Later in the quarter, Giordano set up Schneider's fourth goal of the contest to put the Mountain Hawks up 13-10 with 8:27 on the clock. Lehigh and Bucknell traded goals, courtesy of another goal by O'Connor. Schneider scored a free position goal with 3:47 left in the game, good for a 15-11 Mountain Hawk lead, on the way to the 16-11 final.What a goal by Casey O'Connor to begin the half and even the score. Lehigh now leads 10-9 as we head to the fourth.

For the game, Lehigh held a 27-25 edge in shots and a 17-8 advantage in groundballs. Sophomore Hayley Hunt finished with 12 saves in goal, eight of which came after halftime with 11 coming over the final three quarters. Colleen Kazanjian had four saves for Bucknell.
