BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Head coach Steph Lazo announced Monday the addition of Delaney McDaniel as an assistant coach.
McDaniel comes to Lehigh after spending one year as the director of player development at the University of Massachusetts. Prior to her time at UMass, McDaniel enjoyed a standout four-year career at the University of Delaware. A four-year starter at attack, McDaniel finished her career as the program's all-time leader in assists with 122, which ranked third in CAA history. She totaled 187 career points, ranking ninth in Delaware history and marking the highest total by a Blue Hen in the 2000s.
"We are so excited to be adding Delaney to our staff," Lazo said. "She brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm that I know our team will greatly benefit from. Delaney will be helping with our offensive unit, and I can't wait to see the great things she does for our program."
Hailing from Severna Park, Maryland, McDaniel earned her degree in interpersonal communications from Delaware while making an immediate impact on the field. She became the first Blue Hen since 2012 to earn CAA Rookie of the Year honors. Beyond her success on the field, she served as a member of the team leadership council and was selected by the Delaware director of athletics as the student speaker for the university's Athletes' Graduation Ceremony.
