Mountain Hawks Beaten by Bucknell on Senior Day

BETHELEHM, Pa. - Lehigh hosted Bucknell on Saturday afternoon. The seniors were honored pregame in a ceremony for Senior Day. The Mountain Hawks were bested by the Bison 16-3.
Bucknell opened the game with six unanswered goals in the first 10:32. Grace Martel scored Lehigh's first of the game with two minutes remaining in the first quarter, putting Lehigh down 6-1 through one.
Caroline Sheridan extended Bucknell's lead 4:41 into the second period. Molly Snow cut the Bison lead to five with a free position goal with 5:16 to go. Sheridan scored again two minutes later to bring Bucknell's lead back to six. The Mountain Hawks entered the locker room down 8-2.
After 10 minutes of scoreless action to start the second half, Bucknell put one between the pipes three times in 54 seconds to put the Bison up nine. The third period ended with the Bison up 12-2.
Katie Brown scored 49 seconds into the final period to increase the lead to 11. Molly Snow netted her second of the game at 11:48 to bring it within 10, but the Bison found the back of the net once again at 9:03. Bucknell scored twice more, winning the game 16-3.
Nina DeNicola and Gracie Shoup had the only two assists of the day, getting one each. Brynn Freeman had a game-high four caused turnovers, and was second on the team with three ground balls, just behind Paige Hummel's game-leading four. Freeman and Martel were Lehigh's best in the face-off circle with three draw controls.
Both Micaela Jennings and Jane Hughes saw action during the game. Jennings had four saves in 18:41, and Hughes stopped three shots in 41:19.
Megan Krestinski was Bucknell's leading scorer, tallying five goals. Sheridan totaled three goals, while Brown, Caleigh Cummiskey, and Alex Nesbitt each had two.
