Mountain Hawks and Wildcats set for Saturday clash

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's tennis team (3-0) will look to continue its hot start to the season on Saturday. The next test for Lehigh comes from the Villanova Wildcats. The Wildcats and Mountain Hawks are scheduled to battle at 3:00 p.m. inside the Lewis Indoor Tennis Center.
LAST TIME OUT
The Mountain Hawks picked up two wins last weekend. Lehigh first defeated Siena, 5-2 on Saturday, while then dominating Marist on Sunday, 7-0. Lehigh is now off to a 3-0 start for the first time in over 15 years.
QUOTABLE
"The performance the ladies put on was noteworthy without a doubt," said assistant coach Hannah Fleckenstein. 'I asked them to come hungry and focused. They did exactly that! Every match has and will be a test of their toughness and desire to compete. We look to keep that same energy and mentality rolling into this weekend."
DAZZLING DEPTH
This year's team can beat you in multiple ways. Through three matches this year, four women are a perfect 3-0, while the two others are an impressive 2-1. In the No.2 spot, Paula Gonzalez injects the team with energy, leading to her perfect record. In the No.5 spot, Casey Zhong is also 3-0 in singles, while also tallying two wins in doubles.
FIERCE FRESHMAN
This year, Lehigh has two standout freshmen who will play a key role for them. The Patriot League will soon get to know both Junmoke James and Ella Imhof. The duo is slotted in at the No. 2 doubles and has won all three matches this year. Impressive, right? Well, they also are both undefeated in singles play as well. James and Imhof are a combined 6-0 in singles, while having a 3-0 mark in doubles.
ABOUT VILLANOVA
The Wildcats will come into Bethlehem on Saturday with a 1-1 record. In its opening match, Villanova defeated the George Mason Patriots, 5-2. Following that, the Navy Midshipmen took it to the Wildcats, handing the Wildcats their first loss, 6-1.
PREVIOUS MEETING
The Mountain Hawks kicked-off their season last year with a date with the Wildcats in Bethlehem. Villanova ended up coming away with the win, 5-2. In doubles, Lehigh registered the doubles point with two wins. In singles, At the top spot, Sibel Can was the lone Lehigh player to notch a win, defeating her opponent in a classic three-setter.

The Mountain Hawks return to the Lewis Indoor Tennis Center next weekend. On Saturday, Lehigh welcomes in Stony Brook for a 2:00 p.m. match, while then hosting the Drexel Dragons at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
