WEST POINT, N.Y. - Lehigh fell to Army 4-0 Friday afternoon. With the loss, the Mountain Hawks' four-match winning streak comes to a close as they fall to 4-2 in Patriot League play and 8-12 overall. Army improves to 21-5 overall and 6-1 in league play.
"Obviously, a 0-4 scoreline is a tough one to take, but it felt more competitive than that," head coach Sophia Geier said. "We took a little too long to adjust and figure them out, and against a team like Army, that puts you behind quickly. Maggie was in a strong position, and G had turned momentum in her match and was up in the second set. There were positives there, and it shows that if we make those adjustments earlier, the outcome can look different."
The match began with Army claiming the doubles point with wins on courts two and three. Hannah Letzer and Lena Dogadalski were tied 4-4 on court No. 1 before their match was halted due to the results on courts two and three.
With teams playing to clinch, Army won three singles matches to secure the 4-0 victory. On court No. 1, Maggie Forkner was leading Madison Smith 6-4, 3-6 before her match was halted due to results on other courts.
