WEST POINT, N.Y. - Lehigh fell to Boston University 4-0 Saturday morning in its final match of the regular season. The Mountain Hawks finished 4-3 in Patriot League play and 8-13 overall. With the win, Boston University improved to 5-0 in league play and 7-9 overall.
"Obviously a tough result on paper, but I actually thought we competed really well across the board," head coach Sophia Geier said. "We had three matches still going, and every court there felt very even, which is encouraging against one of the best teams in the league. We just need to keep pushing, trust our level and learn how to turn those tight moments in our favor."
The match began with Boston University claiming the doubles point, thanks to wins on courts one and three.Â
In singles play, Boston University won on courts No. 3, 5 and 6 to clinch the 4-0 match. On court No. 1, after dropping the first set, Maggie Forkner won the second and was headed to a third against Gabriella Mikaul before the match was stopped due to the clinch. On court No. 2, Lena Dogadalski held a 2-1 lead in the third set against Jiayi Liu before the match was stopped due to the clinch.
