LEWISBURG, Pa. -Â Lehigh defeated Loyola, 4-0, Friday afternoon in the Patriot League quarterfinals, advancing to the semifinals for the third consecutive season. The Mountain Hawks will face No. 1 seed Boston University at 10 a.m. Saturday.
"Really proud of how we came out today," head coach Sophia Geier said. "Securing the doubles point gave us a ton of momentum and set the tone for the entire match. From there, we carried that energy into singles and stayed composed to close things out, 4-0. It's great to see the team putting all the pieces together at the right time."
The match began with Lehigh earning the doubles point with wins on courts No. 1 and No. 2. On court No. 1, Lena Dogadalski and Hannah Letzer defeated Christine Richiez and Emma Roech comfortably, 6-1. On court No. 2, Alina Shyani and Maggie Forkner topped Emi Shivkumar and Elena Hartley, 6-1, to clinch the doubles point for Lehigh.
With the doubles point already secured, Lehigh needed three singles victories to clinch the match. The Mountain Hawks delivered, as Skye Yonehara defeated Emma Roeck, 6-3, 6-2, on court No. 5 and Alina Shyani topped Victoria Epps, 6-2, 6-2, on court No. 4 before Giselle Vlassis rallied from a set down on court No. 3 to defeat Mia Matriccino, 5-7, 6-2, 6-1, and secure the 4-0 win.
