Mountain Hawks Post Strong Results at the Navy Invite

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - This past weekend, the Mountain Hawks produced strong results at the Navy Invite, competing against Delaware State, George Mason, Mary Washington, Maryland, Monmouth and Morgan State.

Maggie Forkner and Alina Shyani won the A Flight doubles main draw, defeating Addison Felts and Natalie Kim of Mary Washington 6-4 in the finals.

Claire Macedo won the C Flight singles draw, winning three matches overall and defeating Grace Li of Navy in the finals.

Maggie Forkner won her portion of her Singles A Fight Back Draw, defeating Amira Bergaoui of Morgan State 1-6, 6-4, 10-7 in the finals.

Alina Shyani and Gabby David each picked up multiple singles wins and advanced to their respective singles semifinals in their flights. Additionally, Margaux DeVaul, Ronit Khromchenko, Alice Ann Pantsari and Skye Yonehara each won their first-round singles matches.

"Another really positive weekend for our team. We saw a lot of competitive tennis, continued growth and great effort from top to bottom. I'm especially proud of how the team competed throughout the tournament and continued to battle in every match.

A big congratulations to Alina and Maggie on winning the A Flight doubles main draw, and to Claire on winning the C Flight singles main draw. Maggie also battled her way to the A Flight singles back-draw title, while Alina and Gabby both made their respective singles semifinals," said head coach Sophia Geier.
