BALTIMOREÂ - Lehigh edged Loyola 4-3 on Friday afternoon to extend its winning streak to three matches, improving to 3-1 in Patriot League play and 7-11 overall. With the loss, Loyola drops to 2-2 in league play and 2-10 on the season.
"That's three in a row. Really proud of how we competed today in a tight 4-3 win over Loyola," head coach Sophia Geier said. "Our singles level continues to be a huge strength for us. The way we show up, problem-solve and stay composed in those moments is what sets us apart. Big credit to our No. 6 for stepping into the deciding match and handling that pressure with a lot of confidence and maturity."
Loyola jumped out to the early lead, claiming the doubles point with wins on courts No. 1 and No. 3. On court No. 2, Maggie Forkner and Alina Shyani held a 5-3 lead before their match was halted once the doubles point was decided.
Lehigh answered in singles play, winning four of six matches to secure a 4-3 victory. On court No. 2, Lena Dogadalski cruised past Elena Hartley, 6-1, 6-1, while Giselle Vlassis followed with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Mia Matriccino on court No. 3.
