Lehigh Cruises to 7-0 Win Over Lafayette, Extends Win Streak to Four

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Wednesday afternoon, Lehigh defeated Lafayette 7-0 in the Rivalry, presented by Lehigh Valley Orthopedic Institute, part of Jefferson Health, at the Ulrich Varsity Tennis Courts.
With the win, Lehigh recorded its fourth consecutive Patriot League victory for the first time in program history, improving to 4-1 in league play and 8-11 overall. Lafayette fell to 1-3 in the league and 2-9 overall.
"Today was a complete performance from our group," head coach Sophia Geier said. "Rivalry matches always bring extra intensity, and I'm proud of how focused and disciplined we were from the very first point. Setting the tone early and carrying that through all six singles courts shows the level we're capable of."
Lehigh got off to a strong start, taking the doubles point, thanks to wins on courts two and three. Alina Shyani and Maggie Forkner defeated Sophia Bald and Alexandra Waldman 6-2 on court No. 2, and Skye Yonehara and Audrey Harrington beat Marie Sofia Romaniello and Sophia Pacheco 6-1 on court No. 3.
The Mountain Hawks' momentum carried into singles, where Lehigh won all six matches. Alice Ann Pantsari opened on court No. 6 with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Romaniello, followed by Ronit Khromchenko on court No. 5, who defeated Waldman 6-0, 6-1. Forkner added a point on court No. 1 with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Hanna Ganchi, while Giselle Vlassis picked up a 7-5, 6-1 win on court No. 3 against Pacheco. Shyani won 6-3, 6-3 on court No. 4 over Bald, and Lena Dogadalski closed the sweep on court No. 2 with a 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 victory over Alyssa Perdomo.

Lehigh is right back inaction this weekend to close out regular season Patriot League play. The Mountain Hawks face Army at 1 p.m. Friday, followed by a 9 a.m. matchup against Boston University on Saturday. Both matches will be played in West Point, N.Y.
