BETHLEHEM, Pa. – A pair of Lehigh men's lacrosse standouts were recognized on Friday by being named to the Inside Lacrosse Mid-Season All-America list as senior Craig Chick was named to the second team while junior Conor Gaffney garnered honorable mention recognition. Chick has enjoyed another stellar season, posting 33 groundballs and a team-leading 22 caused turnovers. Meanwhile, Gaffney stands third nationally in faceoff percentage at 68.3, along with 86 groundballs.

Chick is a three-time Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week (Feb. 4, Mar. 11 and Mar. 18). A two-time USILA honorable mention All-American, Chick was named a second team Inside Lacrosse All-American following last season. So far this year, he began the year with nine groundballs and five caused turnovers vs. NJIT. He has multiple caused turnovers in seven of 10 games in 2019, also tallying four against Army West Point and three at Rutgers to help the Mountain Hawks win their second and third straight games vs. nationally-ranked teams. Late in the third quarter at Rutgers, Chick caused a turnover on one end and scored a goal moments later on the other to help propel the Mountain Hawks to an 8-2 run to end the game. Chick is up to 140 caused turnovers for his career, third in NCAA history and 18 behind the all-time NCAA record of 158 held by Detroit's Jordan Houtby.

After two stellar seasons to begin his career, Gaffney has found a way to do even better in 2019. Gaffney won 60.0 percent over his first two seasons, garnering first team All-League last season. This year, he has won at least 60 percent in all but one game so far, garnering double-figure groundballs in five of 10 contests. Gaffney has twice been named Patriot League Faceoff Specialist of the Week, winning it on Mar. 4 and Mar. 11. Gaffney has enjoyed success against strong opponents as well, including last time out when he won 14-of-22 vs. Boston University, which included going 7-of-9 vs. Sean Christman who entered the game over 60 percent on the year himself. At 86 groundballs on the season, Gaffney is quickly approaching his career high (101) while he owns 491 career faceoff wins. He is already the Lehigh all-time record holder for faceoff victories and looks to become the first in school history (and fourth in Patriot League history) to reach the 500-win plateau.

The No. 15 Mountain Hawks return to action on Saturday in a big Patriot League matchup at No. 2 Loyola. Opening faceoff is set for 11 a.m. on CBS Sports Network. Lehigh enters the game 5-0 in league play while Loyola is 4-0.
