Lehigh Ends Season with Loss to Colgate in Patriot League Quarterfinals

4/29/2025 9:51:00 PM | Men's Lacrosse

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The fourth-seeded Lehigh men's lacrosse team saw its season come to an end Tuesday night with a 14-10 loss to fifth-seeded Colgate in the Patriot League quarterfinals at the Ulrich Sports Complex.

Junior defenseman Luke McAuliffe brought the Mountain Hawks within one goal at 9:05 in the third quarter, giving Lehigh a surge of momentum. However, Colgate answered with a 4-0 run to extend its lead to 11-6, and Lehigh was unable to recover.

The Raiders built their largest lead of the night—six goals—with 8:50 left in the game. Dakota Eierman and Colin French added the final two goals for Lehigh to close the gap to four. Eierman led the way for Lehigh with a career-high six points on five goals and an assist. French and sophomore attackman Luke Winkler both added a goal and an assist for the Mountain Hawks.

Despite a back-and-forth start, the second quarter proved pivotal. Colgate outscored Lehigh 4-1 in the frame to take a 7-4 halftime lead after the teams were tied 3-3 at the end of the first quarter. Lehigh went scoreless for 17 straight minutes during the first half, while Colgate used a 3-0 run to seize control.

Patriot League Faceoff Specialist of the Year Sean Dow was dominant once again, winning 16-of-25 on faceoffs while collecting nine ground balls. He also added a goal to his stat line.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kasey Heath capped off an impressive season with a game-high 14 saves. In his first year as a starter, Heath recorded double-digit saves in 14 of Lehigh's 15 games.

Turnovers proved costly for the Mountain Hawks, who gave the ball away 29 times compared to just 15 by the Raiders. Colgate also held a 53-30 advantage in ground balls and outshot Lehigh 49-40.
Liam Connor led the way for Colgate with seven points, scoring three goals and dishing out four assists.

Defensively, junior Richard Checo paced Lehigh with four caused turnovers. McAuliffe, sophomore defenseman Zach Mesa, and first-year midfielder Charlie Sherman each contributed one caused turnover.

Lehigh concludes its season with a 5-10 overall record while Colgate improves to 8-7 and advances to face top-seeded Army on Friday in the Patriot League semifinals.
