Heath Records Career-High 25 Saves in Lehigh’s Loss at No. 4/5 Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J. - No. 4/5 Princeton pulled away for a 15-8 win over Lehigh on Tuesday evening at Sherred Field. The loss drops the Mountain Hawks to 5-6 overall and 2-3 in Patriot League play, while the Tigers continue their strong stretch, winning their seventh game in the last eight to improve to 7-2 on the season.
Despite the loss, Kasey Heath recorded a career-high 25 saves.
On the offensive end, Andrew Kelly and Luke Breslin each scored twice for the Mountain Hawks. Princeton saw nine different players find the back of the net, with Nate Kabiri and Chad Palumbo leading the way with three goals apiece.
Princeton controlled possession throughout, winning 21-of-26 faceoffs.
Princeton dictated play in the first quarter, jumping out to a 2-0 lead less than three minutes into the contest. Finn Morgan connected with Colin French to cut the deficit in half for the Mountain Hawks with 9:15 remaining in the period. The Tigers responded by scoring four of the final five goals of the quarter to take a 6-2 lead after one.
The Tigers carried its momentum into the second quarter, outscoring the Mountain Hawks 4-1 to take a 10-3 lead into the locker room. With 5:07 remaining in the half, French found the back of the net for the second time, briefly cutting the deficit to four.
Princeton continued to control the action in the second half. Breslin and Kelly each scored in the third quarter for the Mountain Hawks, but the Tigers extended their lead to 14-5 heading into the final period.
In the fourth quarter, Morgan fired home his 34th goal of the season, the most among first-years in Division I. Kelly followed with another score, and Hayden Fruhling capped the Mountain Hawks' scoring with his first career goal. The late push from Lehigh was not enough, as Princeton closed out a 15-8 victory.

The Mountain Hawks will have more than a week off before returning to action Friday, April 10, when they travel to Hamilton, N.Y., to face Colgate at 6 p.m. The game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.
