NORFOLK, Va. – After falling twice in a pair of close contests on Saturday, Lehigh (6-8) came storming back on Sunday to earn a 2-2 split in a four-game set at Norfolk State (2-13). The Mountain Hawks combined for 30 runs and 26 hits on Sunday as they posted an 11-5 win in game one, followed by 19-3 drubbing in game two. The 19 runs scored in game two are the most runs scored by a Lehigh team since a 19-10 victory over Army in 2013.

Ryan Malloy put up big offensive numbers in game two as he compiled eight RBI and scored four runs as he finished 3-for-4 with a pair of home runs, including a grand slam. The junior left fielder recorded the first homer of the season for Lehigh with his two-run shot in the fourth inning of game two. His four runs scored are the most in a single game by a Lehigh player this season and his eight RBI are the most by a Lehigh player dating back through the 2010 season.

Blake Rapoport tied Malloy for the team lead with four hits on the day, while Quinn McKenna and Tony Gallo each scored four runs to finish behind Malloy's five. James Bleming finished second on the day with five RBI and also provided some pop as he homered in the fifth inning of game two for the 10th home run of his career.

In addition to the remarkable offensive production, Lehigh also received two outstanding performances by its starting pitchers. Jason Reynolds (2-2) started game one and picked up his second-straight victory as he posted nine strikeouts, the most by a LU pitcher this season, while he tossed 6.0 innings without surrendered a single earned run or a walk. Matt Ratner (1-0) started game two and tossed 5.0 strong innings as he surrendered just one earned run with a season-high tying six strikeouts.

Lehigh jumped out to an early lead in game one as a RBI single by Rapoport combined with a Norfolk throwing error put LU up by two runs at the end of the first frame. The Spartans quickly responded as they scored three runs on two runs with two Lehigh errors in the second to take a 3-2 lead.

The Mountain Hawks regained the lead in the fourth as Gallo and Chris Kersey each contributed RBI singles, while Jeff Shanfeldt added a RBI on a sacrifice fly. LU extended its lead with a three-run sixth inning and sealed the win with three more runs in the ninth, led by Gallo's two-run triple.

All nine Lehigh batters in the lineup recorded a hit in game one, while eight different Mountain Hawks scored a run, led by Gallo with three.

After falling behind 2-1 coming out of the first inning of game two, the Mountain Hawks scored a pair of runs in the second and never looked back on their way to a 19-3 victory.

Lehigh took a commanding 13-3 lead following a seven-run fifth inning performance. Bleming started the rally as he led off the inning with a solo home run and capped off the scoring with a sacrifice fly to center. Malloy also recorded two RBI in the frame with a two-run double.

The Mountain Hawks put the game out of reach as they tacked on six more runs in the top of the seventh, led by Malloy's grand slam. Bleming and Joe Yupp helped set the table for the slam as they reached on back-to-back singles.

Relievers Buck Schwab and Chris Butera kept the Lehigh lead safe as the two pitchers combined for 2.0 scoreless innings.

The Mountain Hawks will take a short trip north to William & Mary to face the Tribe at 6 p.m. on Wednesday before heading to Richmond to begin a three-game round robin tournament on Friday.
