
Lehigh Claims Two More Patriot League Titles

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Mountain Hawks claimed two more titles in the pool on day three of the Patriot League Championships. The women sit third in the standings, while the men rank sixth.

Meghan Thompson captured her second Patriot League title (2017 1650 free champion) as she touched the wall first in the 200 free with a school record time of 1:47.54, lowering her own mark from last year. The Mountain Hawks were well-represented in the event as freshman Ann Foley placed fifth with a new freshman record time of 1:48.11 and Julianne Koch placed sixth.

Courtney Ferreira won the 200 free consolation final to place ninth overall and Tory Connolly placed 15th.

The Lehigh women took home another title in the 200 freestyle relay. Foley, Payton Miles, Koch and Thompson touched the wall first with a new school record mark of 1:31.41. The victory marks just the second time in program history the Lehigh women have won the event (1997).

Kate Bergin took fifth as the lone representative in the 400 IM finals with a time of 4:23.35. Samantha Gallego took fourth in the consolation final to place 12th overall with a personal-best time of 4:28.14.

Audra Smires represented Lehigh in the 100 butterfly and placed eighth. She recorded a personal-best time of 55.42 in the prelims. Malia Wolf placed 15th overall.

The men had three representatives in the 100 butterfly consi final. Zach Tieke led the way in 12th place, Jimmy Davey placed 13th and Teddy Smith rounded out the group in 16th place.

Walker Wilson represented the men in the 200 free as he placed 12th overall.

Allison Morel placed second in the 100 breaststroke consi final to finish 10th overall, while Tyler Christ placed 13th in the men's 100 breast.

Rachel Rider took down the 100 backstroke school record with her preliminary run of 55.75 and placed seventh overall with a finals time of 56.35. Anna Francisco placed 14th and set a new freshman record with her preliminary time of 56.12.

Two seniors represented Lehigh in the men's 100 back finals as Davey placed seventh to edge out his classmate Dean Shafritz who placed eighth. Joe Huber placed 15th overall.

Croldy Veliz picked up points on the boards as he placed 12th overall with a score of 211.10 in the 1-meter dive.

After day three, Navy leads the women's standings with 602.5 points, Army is second with 387 points and Lehigh is third with 354 points. On the men's side, Navy leads with 750.5 points, Army ranks second with 540.5 points, Bucknell is third with 283 points and Lehigh is sixth with 182.5 points.
