Lehigh Women Clipped by Navy in League Opener

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Mountain Hawks dropped a 6-1 decision to Navy as they opened their Patriot League slate on Saturday at home on the Ulrich Varsity Courts. Lehigh is now 4-6 overall, 0-1 in league play, while the Mids improve to 13-9 overall and 1-1 in the Patriot League.
Navy began by taking two out of three in the doubles completion to clinch the doubles point. Lehigh's top pairing of Jamie Campisi and Christina Auyeung earned a convincing 6-1 victory over Navy's top pairing of Claudia Mackenzie and Emily Louie-Meadors who are now 7-4 this season. Campisi and Auyeung are now 4-5 on the season in dual matches.
The Mids efficiently clinched the match with three-straight two-set victories at the top three flights. Amanda Keller clinched the victory for Navy with her 6-3, 6-3 victory over Auyeung at the first flight. Keller is now 6-9, while Auyeung is 6-4.
Briana Maravich captured one of Lehigh's two set victories in singles competition with a 6-3 victory in the first set over Ansofi Wreder. Wreder finished the match by winning the final two sets 6-2, 6-1 to improve to 9-4 on the season.
Campisi also claimed a victory in first singles set, winning 7-5 over Carlee Conway. Conway finished the match winning 6-3, 6-4.
The Mountain Hawks will return to action Tuesday with a road trip to St. Joe's for a match at 2:30 p.m.
