Lehigh Swimmers and Divers to Compete at Big Al Open

BETHLEHEM. Pa. – The Lehigh men's and women's swimming and diving teams will return to the pool this weekend when the Mountain Hawks compete in the two-day Big Al Open hosted by Princeton University beginning on Friday and resuming on Saturday. The event will be streamed live on the Ivy League Digital Network and live results will be provided by Princeton.
Both the men's and women's teams are fresh off a victories over Loyola last Saturday for their first Patriot League wins of the season. The women picked up their third straight victory to move to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in the Patriot League after defeating the Greyhounds 169-125. Led by senior Kaitlyn Ruffing and junior Sydney Bornstein, the Mountain Hawks earned victories in 10 events. Ruffing picked up victories in the 50 yard free and 100 free while Bornstein also won two events in the 100 butterfly and 200 fly.
On the men's side, Lehigh improved to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the league on the year with a 171-129 victory. Senior Jacob Moyar anchored the team, garnering three of Lehigh's nine victories. Moyar placed first in the 200 fly, 500 yard freestyle, and the 200 IM.
Along with host Princeton, Lehigh will be competing against Fordham, Connecticut, and The College of New Jersey. It will be the season debut for the Princeton men, as the reigning Ivy League Champions, while the women will looking to build off a near upset of Miami in their last meet.
Action from DeNunzio Pool will kick off at 6 p.m. on Friday with the 200 Free Relay. Day two will begin at 9 a.m. with the 200 Medley Relay. Following the invitational, Lehigh will begin preparation for its archrival Lafayette. The rivalry is slated to begin at 6 p.m. next Friday from Easton, Pa.
