Fresh off a second-place finish in the Patriot League last season, the Mountain Hawks will be hungry to take the next step and contend for a league title in 2011. Last year's squad finished with a 23-27 overall record, including a 12-8 mark in Patriot League action.
Fourteen seniors return this spring, including a deep corps of offensive weapons. Senior Andrew Russell will look to build on an impressive season in which he smashed seven home runs and knocked in 29 runs last year. Seniors Jim McConlogue (27 RBI), Kevin Mihalik (24 RBI), Brendan McGaheran (23 RBI), Billy Goldman (22 RBI), Sean Killeen (20 RBI) and Logan Winchester (17 RBI) add several potent bats to the Mountain Hawks' deep hitting order. On the mound, Lehigh will turn to senior Mike Lebo for stability after the graduation of Greg Angelo, Andrew Berger and Ken Longernecker. Lebo made a team-high 10 starts last year and posted a 4-4 record with 59 innings pitched. The pitching staff will also be bolstered by the return of junior Cory Kent, who made 18 appearances in 2010 and recorded nine saves.
The 2011 season opens on February 24 at Davidson College. Lehigh's first home game will be on March 19 against Iona College at 12:00 p.m.
