Lehigh finishes action in Tennessee

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. – Lehigh wrapped up action at the 2009 ACRA National Championship on Sunday as the Mountain Hawks’ men’s varsity 8 crew placed fifth in the Grand Final. Lehigh crossed in a time of 6:05.10 to place in front of Rochester in a race where the second through fifth place boats were within five seconds of one another. Overall, Lehigh finishes fifth out of 16 crews entered in the men’s varsity 8 segment of the ACRA National Championship.
On Saturday, Lehigh earned a spot in the Grand Final with a pair of second place finishes as the Mountain Hawks defeated four crews in both of their races. In Saturday’s opening race, the Mountain Hawks crossed in a time of 6:08.20 which placed them in second place ahead of crews from Rochester, Notre Dame, Emory and Minnesota. In the semifinal, the Brown and White again placed second, this time in 6:03.3 to place in front of Rochester, Bucknell, Colorado and Ohio State and earn a spot in Sunday’s Grand Final.
