Lehigh places three on Academic Honor Roll

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Three Lehigh men’s tennis student-athletes were named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, announced by the league on Tuesday. Senior Brad Nelson, sophomore Michael Gordon and freshman Jesse Huth were three of 26 men’s tennis student-athletes named to the honor roll. To be eligible, a student-athlete must obtain at least a 3.2 grade point average and be awarded a varsity letter in his or her sport.

Gordon led the way for the Brown and White, earning a 3.60 GPA in the College of Business and Economics. On the court, Gordon was one of the most pleasant surprises for Lehigh, beginning as a walk-on and emerging into a solid contributor at fifth and sixth singles. Gordon owned a 4-10 singles record and a 6-6 doubles mark in 2007.

Nelson made his second straight honor roll appearance, with a 3.25 GPA in Sociology and Social Psychology. After missing the start of the season with an injury, Nelson returned late in the season and was a major contributor in singles and doubles. Huth rounded out the group of Mountain Hawk honorees with a 3.30 GPA in engineering.

Bucknell’s Ira Reibeisen was named the league’s Men’s Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the year, as voted on by the league’s sports information directors.
