Settle wins award at Greyhound Invite

BETHLEHEM,   Pa. – Lehigh completed its final day of action at the Greyhound Invitational on Saturday at Moravian College.  No team scores were recorded but Emily Settle was named the Women’s Outstanding Thrower of the meet, earning a first place finish in the hammer throw on Friday night.  The Mountain Hawks also three other first place finishers on the day.

 

Shannon Alejandro came in first in the 800 meter run, crossing the finish line in 2:15.33, setting a new meet record.  Kimberly Scotto and Jillian Randolph were close behind, putting in third and fourth place finishes respectively.  Jennifer Filiberto came in with a second place finish in the 5,000 meter run, finishing the race in 19:06.88.

 

In the men’s 5,000 meter run, the Mountain Hawks came away with the top three finishers in the race.  Andrew Jervis claimed first with a time of 15:49.63, followed by Stephan Sample with a 15:58.96 finish, and Leo Smith in third with a time of 16:21.58.

 

In the pole vault, Khalil Uqdah pulled down a second place finish, clearing 4.80 meters.  James Pachucki also had a strong finish for Lehigh, coming in second in the javelin throw, with a distance of 59.23 meters, which broke the meet record.

 

The Mountain Hawks return to action next week, when they travel to the Penn Relays beginning on Thursday and host the Lehigh Games on Saturday.
