Swift wins steeple; men finish fourth, women fifth

Swift won the steeplechase by three seconds. He is one of four runners in program history to run sub-9:00 in the steeplechase and the first one since 2002 when Alex L’Heureux and Rob Black both ran sub-9:00. In addition to scoring points in the steeplechase, Swift also totaled points in the 5000 meter run with a fifth place finish.
Also meeting a qualifying standard for the Mountain Hawk men was freshman Franklin Johnson, who qualified for IC4As in the triple jump. The Arlington, Texas-native leapt a career-best 48’¾” and placed third.
Lehigh had two athletes finish second in their events as senior Greg Horn raced 52.98 in the 400 meter hurdles and freshman Nick Ray set a personal record in the shot put with a 54’6” throw. Senior David Falk competed in the finals of the 100 and 200 meter dashes and finished third and fifth, respectively. Falk ran 10.97 in the 100 and 22.08 in the 200. Sophomore Garrett Zambrows took fourth in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:51.28. Also scoring points for Lehigh was senior Steve Rosinski in the 3000 meter steeplechase and Lehigh’s 4x100 meter and 4x400 meter relays.
Sophomore Sarah Serwo and freshman Kathryn McLaughlin led the Mountain Hawk women with a pair of third place finishes. Serwo ran 2:12.88 in the 800 meter run and came close to breaking her own school record, falling short by just .3 of a second. Meanwhile, McLaughlin tied with Navy’s Katie Berkey for third in the high jump as both athletes cleared 5’3”.
Lehigh’s women’s team also had four fourth place finishes. Freshman Nicole Page took 12 seconds off her previous career-best time in the 3000 meter steeplechase as she crossed the line in a time of 11:16.21—14 seconds ahead of fifth place. Classmate Kaitlin Grimm ran 17:38.89 in the 5000 meter run—17 seconds faster than her previous personal record. Meanwhile, both the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays placed fourth with times of 48.10 and 3:54.51, respectively.
Also scoring points for the Mountain Hawk women were seniors Carolyn House (5000 meter run), Lauren King (high jump) and Nicole Montegary (400 meter hurdles) and sophomores Shannon Alejandro (1500 meter run) and Lindsey Corbetta (100 meter dash).
