GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Senior Sean Swift closed out his career over the weekend as he competed in the NCAA East Regional Finals held on the campus of the University of Florida.  Swift competed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and finished in 35th place with a time of 9:32.02 in the finals after entering the competition with a seeding time of 8:58.64.  Andrew Lemoncello of Florida State won the race with a time of 8:39.02 as he helped lead the Seminoles to the team title with 91 points, while on the women’s side, Virginia Tech was crowned the overall champion with 89 team points.

Swift ended his Lehigh career with a stellar senior campaign as he won the steeplechase at the Patriot League Championships, becoming just the fourth runner in program history to run a sub-9:00 race in the event.  He is the first runner since 2002 to accomplish the feat.  That year, both Alex L’Heureux and Rob Black both ran sub-9:00 races.

This completes the Mountain Hawks 2006-07 track season.
