Three Mountain Hawks Headed to Kentucky for NCAA East First Round

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Three members of the Lehigh track and field team are headed to Lexington, Kentucky for the NCAA East First Round meet, set for May 27-30. Abby Klebe will compete in the women's 800 meters for the second straight year. On the men's side, senior Wil Jaques will compete in the javelin and first-year Konstantinos Panagopoulos will compete in the long jump.

Klebe is coming off her fourth consecutive Patriot League outdoor championship in the 800m and the seventh of her Lehigh career combining indoor and outdoor championships. Her Patriot League championship-winning time of 2:04.22 ranks 27th in the East Region. Last year, Klebe lowered her school record to 2:03.96 in her first run at the First Round meet, qualifying for the quarterfinals and finishing 23rd overall.

Jaques threw a season-best 65.98m to earn a silver medal at last weekend's Patriot League Championships. That throw puts Jaques 38th in the region. This will be Jaques' second trip to the First Round meet. He qualified as a sophomore in 2024, throwing 61.56m to finish in 29th place.

Panagopoulos makes it to the First Round meet as a first-year. He leapt 7.55m at the Patriot League Championships to earn a silver medal and enter the top 48 in the east. Panagopoulos' mark ranks 44th among qualifying athletes.

Jaques will kick off Lehigh action at the NCAA East First Round with the men's javelin to begin at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27. Panagopoulos will jump Wednesday beginning at 6 p.m. Klebe will run in the women's 800m first round at 7:50 p.m. on Thursday, May 28. If Klebe advances to the quarterfinals, that event will take place Saturday, May 30 at 7:05 p.m.
