Lehigh splits outdoor meet with Lafayette

Easton, PA – Lehigh split its annual competition with archrival
Individual winners on the women’s side were Katharine Hessler in the high jump with a mark of 5’3”, while Lindsay Hinsch continued her domination in the long jump with a leap of 5.16. Hinsch then registered a mark of 11.40 in the triple jump to win that event as well. Alyssa Koob bested all competitors in the discuss throw, as she registered a toss of 36.18 meters to take first, while Lauren Barrett threw the javelin a distance of 41.63 meters, which put her in first place for the Mountain Hawks. Deanna Willard in the 3000-meter steeple chase was Lehigh’s only track athlete to win a track event with a time of 11:35.99.
The men dominated the field events, led by Francis Vincent who took the title in the long jump with a leap of 6.75 meters, while Vaclav Malek registered a victory in the high jump, with a leap of 6’4”. Vincent then added a second title to his resume, with a jump of 13.81 in the triple jump. Jesse Ohm cleared 14’0” in the pole vault to claim first place, and Craig Percopo threw the javelin 57.18 meters, more than nine meters further than the closest competition.
In the track events, Steve Rosinski got things going for Lehigh taking first place in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:43.02 and senior George Evans continued his domination in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.58 and then picked up another first place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.70. Bryan Ahern then kept the momentum going for the Mountain Hawks taking first in the 800-meter run, with a time of 1:56.81. Alex Hudgins and Tyler Spencer tied for first in the 5000-meter run, crossing the finish line in a time of 15:18.18.
