The 2021 season saw Allen’s defensive line excel against both the run and pass. The Mountain Hawks registered 25 sacks with linemen Mikhari Sibblis (4.5) and Trevor Harris (4.0) combining for 8.5. Sibblis was a second team All-Patriot League honoree.
Â
In the three-game spring 2021 season, Allen mentored a cornerback room led by first-time starters Jack Bush and LaTreil Wimberly, who both performed well in their first extended opportunities. Â
Allen came to Lehigh in the summer of 2019 and played a role a secondary group that helped fuel the Mountain Hawks’ defensive turnaround in 2019. Senior safety Sam McCloskey earned second team All-Patriot League honors for the second consecutive years, while veteran cornerbacks Marquis Wilson and Jaylen Floyd combined for 78 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, nine pass breakups and a pair of interceptions.
Â
Allen spent the last two seasons as a graduate assistant at the University of South Carolina where he worked with the Gamecocks’ linebackers and special teams. In Allen’s two years at South Carolina, the Gamecocks made appearances in the Outback Bowl and the Belk Bowl. In 2017, South Carolina led the SEC with 28 takeaways.
Â
Among the student-athletes Allen worked with at South Carolina were NFL first round draft pick Hayden Hurst; linebacker Skai Moore, who owns the Gamecocks’ career interceptions record, and first team All-SEC return specialist Deebo Samuel.
Â
Allen comes to Lehigh from Lake Erie College, where he served as Special Teams Coordinator and Secondary Coach. He also spent one season at Hastings College prior to his time at South Carolina.
Â
A native of La Mesa, California, Allen was a four-year letter winner at the University of San Diego. He was a four-year contributor on special teams, and played defense in his first three seasons before switching to fullback in his senior season, where he garnered second team All-Pioneer League honors. Allen was a member of three Pioneer League championship teams at San Diego. He earned his degree in sociology in 2014.
