
Lehigh Moves to 11-0 With Lightning-Shortened 27-7 Win at Colgate

Play was halted due to lightning in the area with 3:54 remaining in the fourth quarter. After a delay of more than an hour, the game was called.

Lehigh improves to 11-0 on the season, its first 11-0 start and 11-game winning streak since 2001. The Mountain Hawks are 6-0 in Patriot League play and will face rival Lafayette next Saturday for the Patriot League championship and the league's automatic bid to the FCS Playoffs.
Sophomore quarterback Hayden Johnson completed 17-of-25 passes for 259 yards and a touchdown. Nine of those passes went to senior Geoffrey Jamiel, who gained 138 yards and scored a touchdown on a 64-yard reception with 4:20 remaining in the second quarter.
Defensively, the Mountain Hawks allowed just 222 yards. Senior Jackson Dowd recorded his first career interception, while seniors Matt Spatny and Tyler Ochojski registered sacks. Spatny took down Jack Stearney right before halftime, giving him 24.5 sacks for his career, breaking the program record of 24, previously held by Nick Martucci '99.
After the defense opened the game with a three-and-out, Lehigh's offense went to work on an 11-play, 53-yard drive. Sophomore Aaron Crossley scored on a two-yard rush to give Lehigh the early 7-0 lead.
A pair of field goals by sophomore Connor Poole, covering 32 and then 30 yards, gave Lehigh a 13-0 lead with 10:23 remaining before halftime.
The Mountain Hawks allowed just 12 yards on nine Colgate offensive plays in the first quarter. After Colgate's Luke Vogeler missed a 45-yard field goal, Lehigh needed just two plays to extend its lead.
Johnson scrambled right and found Jamiel wide open behind the defense for a 64-yard scoring pass, with Poole's extra point putting the Mountain Hawks up 20-0.

Colgate (4-7, 2-4 PL) put together a drive right before halftime and scored on a 28-yard pass from Jake Stearney to Matt Fogler, which cut Lehigh's lead to 20-7 at halftime.
The score remained 20-7 until Jaden Green broke a run to the outside for a 28-yard touchdown to put Lehigh up 27-7 with 10:30 to play.

Lehigh had the ball facing 3rd-and-8 with 3:54 to play when the game was initially halted.
The Mountain Hawks gained 393 yards of offense, including 134 on the ground. Green led Lehigh with 54 yards and a touchdown on nine carries, while Yoder rushed 17 times for 51 yards.
Colgate was held to just 60 yards on the ground. Stearney and Zach Osborne combined to go 17-of-30 for 162 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Osborne led the Raiders with 25 rushing yards.
Senior Brycen Edwards was Lehigh;s top tackler with seven stops. Sophomore Cole Hughes added five.
The Mountain Hawks will head to Lafayette next Saturday for the 161st meeting of college football's most-played rivalry. Game time is set for 12:30 p.m. from Fisher Stadium in Easton, Pa. The winner of Rivalry 161 gets the Patriot League's automatic bid to the FCS playoffs.
EXTRA POINTS… Lehigh defeated Colgate for the second straight season, the third time in last four seasons, and the first time in Hamilton since 2019… the Mountain Hawks are now 17-6 in their last 23 games the week before playing Lafayette and 5-4 in those situations when the opponent is Colgate…Lehigh has allowed just 23 points over its last five games, keeping all five teams to single digits...Ochojski and junior Aidan Singleton both had four tackles… Singleton had two of Lehigh's five pass breakups… Green's fourth quarter touchdown was the 20th of his career.
