Lehigh’s top three ball carriers return for the fall 2021 season. RaShawn Allen and Zaythan Hill were Lehigh’s top two rushers in the abbreviated spring campaign, with Allen leading the way, rushing for 128 yards in three games, including a 49-yard touchdown sprint at Lafayette.
In his first season, DiMichele led a running back group that saw RaShawn Allen start every game and saw Zaythan Hill emerge as a true freshman to lead the Mountain Hawks with 396 yards and five touchdowns. Sophomore Peter Lucas also contributed to Lehigh’s rushing attack.
As part of DiMichele’s special teams work, Jack Bush was named first team All-Patriot League at the non-specialist special teams position. Kicker Austin Henning was 14-of-18 on field goals and was a perfect 17-for-17 on extra points.
As recruiting coordinator, DiMichele helped bring in a freshman class that featured more than 30 student-athletes, 21 of who saw game action in 2019. With DiMichele leading Lehigh’s recruiting efforts, another large and talented group of 30 will join the Mountain Hawks in the fall.
DiMichele came to Lehigh after two seasons at Holy Cross. He served as running backs coach in 2018 and prior to that was the Crusader’s assistant secondary coach in 2017. At Holy Cross, DiMichele saw his running backs earn 1851 total rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns. Crusaders running back Domenic Cozier led the team with 679 yards and eight rushing TDs. Cozier was a second team All-Patriot League honoree.
Prior to joining the Crusaders, DiMichele served as the secondary coach at the University of New Haven. In 2015 and 2016, DiMichele saw his team finish with a 13-5 record in the Northeast-10 Conference. Before joining the Chargers, DiMichele served as an assistant coach at Sto-Rox High School in McKees Rocks, Pa., from 2012-2014.
DiMichele graduated from Holy Cross in 2011. He was named as an All-Patriot League selection twice during his tenure as a Crusader, and also earned third team All-America honors in 2009 from the Sports Network. A three-year starter, DiMichele finished his collegiate career with 237 tackles, nine of those for a loss, as well as four interceptions and 20 pass breakups. He was a member of Holy Cross’ 2009 Patriot League championship team.
DiMichele played one season for the Seamen Milano in Italy following his graduation from Holy Cross. In 2016, he earned a master’s degree in sports management from the University of New Haven.
