Andy Marino begins his fourth season on the Mountain Hawks’ coaching staff. He was promoted to offensive line coach in the spring of 2015 after coaching the tight ends in 2014.
Last year Marino oversaw a veteran offensive line that ranked among the best in the Patriot League and the FCS. With three seniors, a junior and a sophomore seeing most of the action, Lehigh’s line paved the way for another 1,000 yard rushing season from Dominick Bragalone while also helping the Mountain Hawks lead the Patriot League in passing offense. Two of Lehigh’s four team captains resided on the offensive line with right tackle Zach Duffy earning first team all-league honors and center Brandon Short earning his first career all-league award. Junior left tackle Tim O’Hara earned second team laurels for the second consecutive season.
In 2015 Marino’s offensive line served as the foundation for Lehigh’s balanced offensive attack that led the Patriot League in total offense. Three of Marino’s starting linemen garnered all-league recognition with senior left guard Matt Ford garnering first team honors and tackles Zach Duffy and Tim O’Hara earning second team laurels. Lehigh’s five starting linemen accounted for 54 of a possible 55 starts together and paved the way for Dominick Bragalone to become the first Lehigh freshman to rush for 1,000 yards in a season.
Marino came to Lehigh from Widener University where he spent the 2013 season working with the offensive line. He also held titles of Assistant Head Coach, Recruiting Coordinator and Run Game Coordinator. He mentored one All-Conference lineman while his offensive line paved the way for the conference's top scoring offense.
Prior to his stint at Widener, Marino spent three years on the coaching staff at Delaware where he spent two seasons as an offensive graduate assistant before working with the tight ends and tackles in 2012. He also coordinated and directed the punt team. In his first season at Delaware, the Blue Hens reached the FCS National Championship game. Marino also worked with Blue Hen center Gino Gradkowski, who now plays for the Carolina Panthers.
Marino has familiarity with the Lehigh Valley as he spent one season as the offensive line coach at Whitehall High School, where he led the team to 7-5 record and the Eastern Conference championship.
A 2009 graduate of Lycoming College with a degree in History, Marino was a three-year starter and a two-year team captain on the offensive line. In 2008 he was a MAC Champion in the NCAA Division III National Playoff Qualifier. He added a Master's in Higher Education Administration from Delaware in 2012.
